Old EPA Rules

Competition Format & Structure

  • Format: Straight knockout competition played at the end of the season.

  • Field Size & Progression (For 42 Teams):

    • Preliminary Round: Features 10 matches on 25th February to reduce the field.

    • Main Rounds: Cuts the remaining field down to the Last 32 the following week, continuing onward through standard knockout rounds.

  • Match Length: Race to 5 frames.

  • Match Format & Breakdown: Follows the normal league match format consisting of:

    • 4 Singles

    • 1 Scotch Pairs

    • 4 Singles

  • Venue Advantage: The team drawn as the home venue gains home advantage.

  • Break Choice: The initial break of the match is decided by a lag.

  • Automatic Entry: All Macc rules teams are entered automatically.

  • Opt-Out: Teams may choose to opt out by contacting the Competition Secretary.

  • Membership: All participating players must be registered MPL members.
